Get back to what you love doing
Hands on soft tissue work from an MSK physiotherapist, in a private room, with the time to do it properly.

“I visited Josh for a deep tissue massage. That evening I had a very good sleep. The next day I expected painful muscles but the aches were a lot less than normal and I even walked about 2.5 miles with a lot less pain in my knees.”
How I approach sports massage
I don't see sports massage as simply lying on a table, having someone work on a tight muscle and then being sent away.
I personalise the treatment to the person in front of me and what they're trying to achieve. That could be someone training regularly, preparing for an event, playing sport, going to the gym or simply wanting to feel more comfortable and move better.
I'll consider what you're doing, your training and activity load, recovery and what you're experiencing, rather than just treating the area that feels tight.
Massage can absolutely be useful, but I want to be honest about what it can and can't do. It's not necessarily the thing that fixes the problem.
Josh Devine, Specialist MSK Physiotherapist
What a session includes
Combined and adapted based on what the assessment finds, not applied as a fixed routine.
Deep tissue massage
Sustained, focused pressure through deeper muscle layers to release long standing tension and restriction.
Sports massage
Targeted work for training, competition and recovery, whether you are preparing, recovering or mid block.
Soft tissue release
Specific techniques for tight, overloaded tissue that is limiting movement and comfort.
Myofascial and trigger point
Addressing referred pain patterns and fascial restriction that often sit behind stubborn symptoms.

Skilled hands, guided by an assessment
Including medical acupuncture where it is clinically appropriate.
Massage from a specialist MSK physiotherapist.Skilled hands on treatment, plus why the tension keeps returning.

“I had a deep tissue massage with Josh and it was excellent. He quickly understood where I was tight and applied the right pressure throughout. Very professional and effective, I left feeling looser and more relaxed.”
What a session looks like
Understand what you're training for
Your activity load, recovery and what you're experiencing, not just the area that feels tight.
Hands on work, personalised
Sports massage, deep tissue work, acupuncture, used where they'll actually help.
Honest about what massage can do
It can be genuinely useful, but it isn't necessarily the thing that fixes the problem on its own.
Combined with the wider picture
Where appropriate, exercise, movement advice and addressing what is actually contributing to the problem.
When hands on work is part of a bigger plan
Massage settles things. Understanding why keeps them settled.
- Immediate relief from hands on treatment
- An explanation of why it keeps returning
- Loading that changes the underlying cause
- Fewer appointments needed over time
